Motives

“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others...” (Matthew 6:1, NLT)

So much of following Jesus has to do with our motives. Am I still living for my own renown? Or have I reoriented my life to revolve around Christ and His reputation? Even in the good that I actually do, is it for God’s glory? Or is there still a fragment of self that is longing for recognition?
