Break Free: Forgive!

After Jacob deceived his father into blessing him, his brother, Esau, was out of his mind in rage. Esau begged his dad to bless him too. Interestingly, his father didn’t give Esau much of a blessing, but he did say something interesting: “But when you decide to break free, you will shake [Jacob’s] yoke from your neck” (Genesis 27:40b, NLT). Esau was filled with bitterness and hatred toward Jacob, so much so that he was actually planning to kill his brother. His father wisely knew that Esau would be in bondage until he learned to BREAK FREE from his hurt. 

May God empower you to break free from any bitterness that might be lodged in your heart. May you experience God’s release and freedom.
