Fully Armed Followers of Jesus Should Do What?!

If you grew up in the church, you're well acquainted with the "full armor of God." (If that phrase is foreign to you, grab your Bible and read Ephesians 6:10-20.) Immediately after listing the essential garments, Paul tells these followers of Jesus what they are supposed to do next. And what he tells them is pretty startling. He doesn't tell them to start a boycott or to post a rant against the government on Facebook. He doesn't tell them to get on Ebay and purchase a bullhorn. Instead, this is his command:
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me..." (Ephesians 6:18-19a, NIV)
As followers of Jesus--especially as FULLY ARMED followers of Jesus--we are to PRAY! It's pretty simple! And most of us already know that we should and we already feel guilty that we don't do it nearly enough.

There are all kinds of ways that you can "always keep on praying." Ask God to help you!  Look at your calendar and schedule strategic windows of prayer. If you live in our neck of the woods, consider joining me THIS Sunday, June 30 at 6pm for a time of prayer. (Guest worship leader, Ted Slater, from Perrysburg's Bethel Assembly, will be leading worship.)

May you and I learn to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers. May we be a people who always keep on praying!
