Jesus and the Lone Ranger

We live in a lone ranger culture. Even in an age of “social” media, we are increasingly isolated. Mostly because of hurt, we don’t want to rely on anybody else. Yet, this is what Jesus had to say about the subject:
“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” (John 5:19, NLT)
Of course, Jesus is God, and as such, He certainly did not NEED to be tutored by the Father. But he willingly humbled himself and took the role of a submissive student in order to DEMONSTRATE to us how we should relate to our Heavenly Father. We should have a posture of obedience, reliance, and submissiveness to God.

What if you and I realized that we truly can do nothing by ourselves? What if we really got that we are 100% dependent upon our Heavenly Father? Beyond that, what if we realized that our Heavenly Father LOVES us and WANTS to show us what He is doing? What if we believed that God wants to use our human form to accomplish His supernatural purposes?

May we be willing to humble ourselves. May we look for what our Father is already doing, listen to His voice, and then step out and obediently do what we see and hear!
