How to Look Good

Whether we admit it or not, we all want to look good. We want to be admired and seen as having what it takes. One time Samuel, the great prophet of Israel, was on a mission to find the man that God had set apart to be the next king of Israel. He thought he had found the one, only to hear God say... 

“Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7, NLT) 

You can never rule somebody “out” simply by looking at him or her. Yet, we’ve all been guilty of this... we jump to conclusions and make assumptions... good or bad.

God never judges by appearances, He zooms in... straight to the heart.

So, all the work that you and I put into posturing ourselves... trying to impress others with our quick whit, or in my case, incredible good looks... In God’s eyes, it’s really meaningless. What if we learned to spend more time guarding our hearts, cultivating our hearts, and hiding God’s Word in them?!
